The Department of Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Houston invites applications for a position as part-time lecturer to teach courses in Religious Studies, with a specialization in Hebrew Bible and related topics. The program offers a Major and Minor in Religious Studies.

We seek a junior scholar specializing in the comparative study of literary traditions of the Hebrew Bible and its history. Areas of specialization could include comparative perspectives on historical events or themes of the ancient Near East, as well as traditional and modern methodological approaches to biblical literature. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible in hand or be near its completion and should have teaching experience in Hebrew Bible or its language at the undergraduate level.

We encourage applicants to demonstrate how their teaching and research will strengthen the comparative perspective of our Religious Studies Program. Our Department of Comparative Cultural Studies combines degree programs in Religious Studies, Anthropology, India Studies, International and Global Studies, and Liberal Studies.

Qualifications :

Candidates with a Master’s degree in a related field will be considered, preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in a related field.
