SUMMARY:
The Department of Arts and Languages at Fisk University is seeking candidates for a tenure track position in English at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The University invites applicants and nominations. Applicants must demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure.
Starting Date: August 2019
Responsibilities:
Position includes teaching in American Literature inclusive of Composition courses as well as opportunities teach in the evolving areas of, African American Literature and Harlem Renaissance. The successful applicant will also be expected to teach 12 hours per semester and be active in university/discipline department committees.

Applicant must have a Ph.D. in American Literature, ABD in American Literature or related fields from an accredited institution with 3-5 years of teaching experience. Applicant must have a successful teaching record in using various pedagogical techniques and methodologies as well as excellent interpersonal and computer skills. Instruction and scholarship in African American Literature and Harlem Renaissance.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
