Departmental Overview
International House is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, self-supporting residential and community-oriented program center located in the southeast foothills of the Berkeley Campus. Since its founding in 1930 with a gift from John D. Rockefeller, Jr., it has housed more than 90,000 residents including two Governors of California and eight Nobel Prize laureates. Its mission is to foster intercultural respect and understanding among people throughout the world across cultural, economic, and ethnic lines. I-House provides nearly 1,100 students and scholars from the United States and around the world with an opportunity to live and learn together during a typical 12 month cycle. I-House's rich array of programs serves the residents, the campus and local community.

Responsibilities
We are in search of an energetic and creative student centered professional to support the Resident Engagement Manager in the student affairs arena who has strong and demonstrable leadership skills to join the International House community in a highly team oriented environment. Under the direction of the Resident Engagement Manager, the incumbent will co-supervise, train, and coach student staff and other resident leaders when applicable. Create, organize and maintain the student employee handbook and database with relevant policies, resources and guidelines. Support the design and co-facilitation of the Resident Leadership Retreats and other trainings as needed. Assist the Resident Engagement Manager to identify and implement opportunities for enhancing student leadership development at I-House and the integration of Center for Intercultural Leadership's professional development and training models in cultural, social, and educational programming.

Examples of Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the marketing strategy and promotion of resident programming, and other leadership/community engagement opportunities through various online and print outlets. Coordinate the creation of posters, informational brochures, social media posts, emails and newsletters that are relevant and accessible to residents. Liaise with other internal I-House departments (Communications, Alumni Relations) as needed.

Assist the Resident Engagement Manager with the development of Resident Surveys, i.e. incoming/exiting resident satisfaction, targeted assessment for critical resident services (Resident Store, Mail Service, Resident Council, improvements to resident spaces, etc.) and early alumni. Assist in the general evaluation and analysis of resident programming, their needs/desires, plus other intercultural topics as needed to better inform resident outreach and engagement.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • Experience with graphic design, especially on Canva
  • Experience with Social Media, Eventbrite, Submittable, Mailchimp
  • Experience creating email newsletters
  • Experience working with English language learners
  • Experience designing and delivering intercultural workshops and classes
  • General knowledge of international student population, intercultural communication and student affairs
  • Experience in stage and event management for concerts, performances, and banquet dinners
  • Experience supervising and mentoring student staff members
  • Familiarity of local Bay Area arts and culture organizations, venues and event

    Salary & Benefits
    Salary Range:
    $41,200 - $62,800 - $84,400 annually (DOE)
