General summary/purpose:

The Center for Child and Community Health Research (CCHR) in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is a leader in addressing social determinants of health, sexually transmitted infections and other health disparities through research, programmatic and clinical endeavors (www.jhcchr.org). CCHR seeks a Programmer Analyst to provide management and support to Center research support services.

The Programmer Analyst would be responsible for:

    Overseeing day to day research and programmatic activities as they relate to database development and database management for research projects and programs Developing and building data collection tools within databases while working with Primary Investigators and identified CCHR/BEAD staff Performing QA/QC of data and associated database Exporting data and compiling reports as needed. Design and build databases in Microsoft Access Collaborate with project primary investigators and CCHR/BEAD Core to determine needs and develop custom databases tailored according to specifications Maintain, Repair, Manage and Update databases-provide programming for projects with continued ongoing support Build ACASI basic architecture for new/ongoing projects to be continued by CCHR staff For complex projects, build entire ACASI and manage/Update ACASI data Use best practices to store data on secure Hopkins network and manage files within warehouse manager to allow for data export Manage clinical data sets and conduct data cleaning to facilitate data export to statistics packages Build Teleform basic architecture for continued programming by CCHR staff and/or complete complex forms entirely Build REDCap databases-set up basic architecture to be built by CCHR staff and/or build complex REDCap databases Creation of Standard Operating Procedures with respect to database management and database development Develop best practices for data collection and storage Work with CCHR lead faculty to implement project management software Implement and Manage Geographic Information Systems Mapping

Specific duties & responsibilities:

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred qualifications:

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Access. Some management or supervisory experience preferred, not required; Excellent communicator, excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding organizational skills, ability to work with quantitative data, basic understanding of epidemiology, familiarity with medical terminology, Must work well in both group and independent settings. Familiarity with STATA, SAS, SPSS or R preferred; experience with GIS desired. Must have knowledge of database development, specifically Teleform, ACASI, REDCap and Qualtrics a plus. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once; meet deadlines, familiar with databases, detailed, flexible, able to manage relationships.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
