The Agriculture/Horticulture Department at LBCC offers a wide range of courses including Crop Science, Computers in Agriculture, Forage Crops, Marketing in Agriculture, Management in Agriculture, Soils ( CSS ) and Landscape Plant Materials as well as Starting a New Ag/Hort Business. The faculty member develops, plans, and presents organized lectures, laboratory activities, and out of class assignments in accordance with approved course outlines.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 27 graduate quarter hours in Agriculture, Horticulture, Business or a related field. Prefer Master=s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or a related field. Teaching experience in a community college or university setting. Professional Experience in Agriculture Business or closely related field may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Requires the ability to work with staff and students.

Work is performed in a classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.

Essential Duties:

Applicants must possess a combination of academic preparation and professional experience that demonstrates the ability to:

Imparts excitement and enthusiasm into the teaching of agriculture and business management.

Develops course schedules and syllabi.

Plans, develops, and delivers classroom lectures and activities as well as write tests and develops other methods to evaluate student progress and competence.

Develops or adapts hands-on exercises students will find engaging and relevant. Assures any equipment is properly used and verifies all equipment is present at the end of each class section.

Works effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages and successfully interacts with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of an education team.

Communicates effectively in oral and written English.

Keeps accurate grade and attendance records.

Establishes and maintains opportunities for reasonable out-of-class contact with students.
