Postdoctoral Research Associate in Digital Humanities

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be hired in conjunction with the Digital Humanities Initiative, a new collaboration between the Institute for the Humanities and the Main Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  This is a one-year position, with an appointment from 16 August 2019 to 15 August 2020, designed to expose faculty and students to research in digital humanities, and new research methods in that field.  The Research Associate will conduct their current research in a vibrant setting of fellows at the Institute for the Humanities; during the year, they will present their research in a public lecture and seminar.  In addition, the Research Associate will assist in planning a conference of other digital humanists; consult with faculty and students engaged in, or interested in, digital projects; and provide guidance on building the Digital Humanities Initiative into a sustainable forum for intellectual collaboration.  The candidate for the position should currently hold a PhD awarded in 2015 or after (in any field of the arts or humanities), have a strong record of scholarly work in conferences and publication, and have a willingness to participate and take a leadership role in a diverse and energetic scholarly community of students and faculty.  Applicants should submit an on line application a cover letter, a cv, and a 500 word description of current research by March 15 at https://jobs.uic.edu.
