Supports the success of the Spanish GED program and its students by creating and maintaining connections and communications between that program and relevant constituencies, including but not limited to: the ABE / GED department as a whole; relevant division and department leadership; other LBCC areas interested in or interacting with the Spanish GED program and its students, community groups, agencies and individuals. Coordinates logistics ensuring successful functioning of the program. Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Position requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent, plus demonstrable success working within the Hispanic community and bicultural experience and understanding.

Knowledge and Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and students from varying cultures and backgrounds. Requires up-to-date technical skills, such as: word processing, electronic communication media, and navigation of electronic information, including databases, spreadsheets and filing systems. Knowledge of the communities, agencies and activities within the LBCC service area, and strong problem-solving skills are preferred.

Abilities: Must be Bilingual Spanish/English and have the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds. Requires the ability to communicate effectively with native and non-native English speaking students individually and in groups. Must be able to understand students’ differences and have a demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external partners, including hosts at non-traditional class locations, and a demonstrated ability to provide quality customer service. Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year experience in an ABS, GED, or experience in coordinating a program or work group is preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Physical Skills and Abilities: Learned physical skill is required to perform keyboarding functions. Requires sufficient visual acuity to recognize alphanumeric characters. Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in front of a group.

Working Conditions: Most work is performed indoors with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards. Requires flexible hours to be able to attend relevant community events and meet with partners with variable schedules. Travel to different locations for meetings or events is required. Essential Duties:
Develops and maintains positive relationships with key community partners on behalf of the Spanish GED program and, to some extent, the GED department as a whole and LBCC . Serves as a liaison and a conduit of information between the Hispanic communities, the larger community, the Spanish GED program and LBCC .

Keeps information about the program up-to-date in a variety of media, including at least telephone message, website, brochures, and information sheet for students.

Works with relevant division and department leadership to assure that Spanish GED has a presence in recruiting efforts, particularly at fairs/festivals within the Latino community.

Works with pertinent staff at off-campus class sites regarding scheduling rooms, accessing needed resources and understanding the necessities of the site.

Works with relevant division and department leadership in determining class schedules, and other department work related to Spanish GED classes or students.

Coordinates Spanish GED orientation, working with instructors, relevant division and department leadership to establish orientation content, schedule orientations and hire staff.

Responds to questions, provides information and assistance to public, students and staff on issues related to Spanish GED .

Assists in non-instructional program work which requires fluency in Spanish and/or familiarity with the Hispanic communities.

Work with Spanish GED instructors and other program staff to manage the Spanish GED textbooks and resource materials.

Assists in considering applicants for Spanish GED teaching and orientation assignments.

Facilitates sharing of best practices among Spanish GED teachers and orientation staff.

Performs other duties as assigned.
