The Economics Instructor will share the responsibility of offering Introductory Economics courses. Additionally they will be in a position to aid in the planning of yearly scheduling of classes and the development of new curriculum. Opportunities to collaborate with other departments to offer Interdisciplinary courses are also available. The teaching load is fifteen credits (three courses) per quarter and a minimum of five office hours per week. Additional responsibilities include advising students, maintaining professional expertise in Economics, developing curriculum, participating in college governance, and assisting in the maintenance and execution of the strategic plans of the Economics program.

Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $60,951.40, beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires cannot be placed above $65,354.92 unless exceptional circumstances prevail.

The Economics department is dedicated to providing a pluralistic approach to the study of Economics as a social science. Its curriculum exposes students to a variety of theoretical approaches for understanding markets and stresses the critical evaluation of economic policy. It is our belief that economic reasoning is essential for students to understand and analyze the world around them. We help prepare students totransfer to four-year institutions for further study and for careers in public policy, business, law, politics, or academia. We currently offer Intro to Basic Economic Principles, Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, US Economic Development and The Economics of Sustainability as part of our transfer program.Health Economics and Econometrics are upper division courses offered in conjunction with the college'sapplied baccalaureate programs. We normally offer seventeen sections a quarter and we are eager to expand our course offerings and grow the department in ways that help underserved populations succeed in higher education.


• Master's degree from accredited institution in Economics
• Prior instruction experience in Economics or related fields
• Commitment to creating and advocating for a welcoming and inclusive climate for all students
• Effective communication skills (to students and colleagues) in both written and oral form


• Experience in teaching and developing curriculum at the college level
• Demonstrated understanding of current trends and research in Economics
• Experience with, and commitment to, learner-centered teaching methods
• Awareness of teaching and learning theory, and openness to classroom innovation
• Experience in teaching and developing curriculum with a diverse population of students and colleagues
• Commitment to college and program governance, student mentoring and advising
• Experience teaching courses in an online or hybrid settings

Tenure-Track Full-Time Faculty positions are eligible for relocation allowance.
