  • Teach four courses undergraduate Spanish (12 credits) per semester (24 credits per academic year), in the Department of Languages & Ethnic Studies.
  • In addition to classroom teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate is expected to pursue research activities.
  • Collaborate in the Languages & Ethnic Studies program and participate in program planning and assessment.
  • Participate in activities that support Bemidji State University's signature themes of environmental stewardship, civic engagement, and global/multicultural understanding.
  • Participate in student advising, perform other additional assignments depending on departmental needs, and participate in faculty governance and committee work.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum:

  • A terminal degree (Ph.D.) is required at the time of employment from an accredited university in Spanish or Romance Languages, with an emphasis in Spanish Peninsular Literature & Culture.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching is required.
  • Native or near native proficiency in Spanish and English.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Skills/ability to design and deliver online courses with Desire To Learn (D2L) software.
  • Knowledge or experience to teach Spanish in the Professions.
  • Candidate has a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and all software programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and/or interest working with students and colleagues from multi-cultural and diverse backgrounds and using culturally responsive pedagogy and practice.
