Job Summary
The Department of Hispanic Studies at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky seeks to hire an Assistant Professor in Latinx Studies to begin Fall 2019. This is a tenure-track position in a research-intensive title series with a 2/2 teaching load. This position is part of a college-wide initiative that includes a Latinx hire in the Department of History. We seek a scholar with a robust research agenda focused on Latinx studies (i.e., literature, film and media, visual arts, performance studies, social movements, etc.). We encourage candidates who are able to dialogue with other units in the College of Arts and Sciences. The ideal candidate will be willing and interested in developing comparatist Latinx-Latin American courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as in teaching Latin American undergraduate survey courses. Candidates are expected to teach in both English and Spanish at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and to demonstrate excellence in research, teaching, and service, with contributions to both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by time of application.
Applicants must submit the following: 1) cover letter, 2) curriculum vitae, 3) teaching portfolio (teaching statement, sample syllabi, representative teaching evaluations - upload under Specific Request 1), 4) research statement (upload under Specific Request 2), 5) a chapter-length writing sample, 6) and a statement on inclusivity (upload under Specific Request 3): As a department and university, we are strongly committed to creating an inclusive and effective teaching, learning, research, and working environment for all.
