The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) invites applications for a tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor of Spanish specializing in Southern Cone literature and visual arts. Must have PhD in Spanish by time of appointment.  Criminal conviction check and occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meeting required.

Primary job responsibilities include: teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures in Spanish and English. Will specialize in courses on the literature and culture and visual arts of the Southern Cone. Will advise students, serve on committees, perform professional service and maintain an active research agenda. Research focus will be on 20th and 21st century Latin American literature and culture.
