Position Description
The Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has an academic Anesthesiologist position available at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The position is without tenure, due to funding and is full-time, with the anticipated start date as early as January 2023 or thereafter. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. This position will be expected to perform high quality clinical care, education and research. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in academic activity in clinical/basic research and medical education. Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and supervision of clinical anesthesiology care. The successful candidates are expected to complement the Division’s academic, educational and research productivity. Positive factors for consideration include experience in general OR trauma care, neuroanesthesiology, regional block anesthesia and pre-anesthesia services. Obstetric, cardiac and pediatric experience are not required.
Qualifications
Must have MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent). Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in anesthesiology and be eligible for State of Washington medical licensure. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
